Destinations
The ranger recommends
Hellnar
Hellnar used to be a fishing village. The beach features beautiful rock formations and a cliff that juts out into the sea called Valsnös. Valnös contains Baðstofa, one of the most unusual caves in Iceland, known for its magnificent colour variations that change with light and the tides.
Skarðsvík
Skarðsvík is a particularly lovely cove, with yellow shell sand and aquamarine seawater. The cove is surrounded by dark volcanic terrain.
Svalþúfa
Svalþúfa and Þúfubjarg is a large tuff cape just east of Lóndrangar. The sea facing part of the cape is called Þúfubjarg, where thousands of seabirds nest in the spring and raise their young.
